Inter-Agent Communication
A multi-agent setup works like a production team: one producer, several specialists.
The producer owns the mission. Specialists own scoped assignments. If everyone starts producing and executing at the same time, you do not get speed, you get noise.
This is especially important with agents because they are highly responsive. Without clear boundaries, a status update can be misread as a new assignment, which triggers another response, which triggers another response. Soon the system is busy talking to itself while progress stalls.
So the communication pattern is intentionally strict. Status reports are reports, not task invitations. Specialists report up to the coordinator, not sideways to other specialists. The coordinator opens work, decides next steps, and closes loops. Blockers escalate upward for decisions instead of being improvised in isolation.
None of this is bureaucracy. It is how you prevent loops, responsibility confusion, and parallel efforts that collide.
When this pattern is in place, scaling gets easier. One specialist can handle research, another can handle implementation, another can monitor long-running jobs, and the human still has a single place to understand mission state.
When the pattern is missing, symptoms show up fast: duplicated work, contradictory actions, and update chatter that sounds active but produces little.
If you remember one line, remember this: specialists execute, coordinators decide. That boundary is what turns many agents from a novelty into a reliable operating system.
